In the Beginning, There Was Nothing

A very, very long time ago, before you, before your parents, before trees and birds and oceans, there was nothing on Earth at all. No people. No houses. No schools. Just empty land.

But Allah, who made everything, had a beautiful plan.

One day, Allah told the angels a special piece of news. He said that He was going to create a khalifah on Earth. That is an Arabic word that means someone who would take care of the Earth and live on it.

The angels were surprised. They asked, “O Allah, will this new creation cause trouble and fight?” They were curious, not rude. They just wanted to understand.

Allah said, “I know what you do not know.” And that was enough. Allah always knows best.

How Adam (AS) Was Made

A symbolic and respectful depiction of the creation of Prophet Adam (AS), showing a clay form illuminated by divine light in a peaceful natural setting.

Allah made Prophet Adam, peace be upon him, from clay. Just imagine that from the mud of the earth, Allah shaped the very first human being with His own two hands. That makes Adam (AS) the most special creation ever made.

Then Allah breathed a soul into Adam (AS). And just like that, Adam (AS) opened his eyes for the first time. He looked around and said, “Alhamdulillah!” All praise belongs to Allah. Even the very first words a human ever spoke were a thank you to Allah.

Adam (AS) was tall and beautiful. Allah gave him a clever mind, the ability to speak, and the gift of learning. Right away, Allah taught Adam (AS) the names of all things the names of animals, plants, colours, and everything around him. This was something special that the angels had not been taught.

The Angels Bowed to Adam (AS)

After Allah created Adam (AS), He asked all the angels to bow down to him as a sign of respect. This was not worship we only worship Allah. It was a way of honouring this new and wonderful creation.

All the angels bowed. Every single one of them.

But there was one being named Iblees who refused. He was not an angel he was a jinn. And he was very proud. He said, “I am better than Adam. You made me from fire and you made him from clay.”

He forgot one important thing: it is Allah who decides who is better, not us. Pride and arrogance are very dangerous. They were the very first sin ever committed.

Because of his disobedience, Iblees was removed from the presence of Allah. He became the enemy of all humans from that day on. We now call him Shaytan.

Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) in Paradise

Allah placed Adam (AS) in Jannah Paradise. Can you imagine a place more beautiful than the most beautiful garden you have ever seen? Paradise is a million times more amazing than that.

Adam (AS) was happy, but Allah saw that he needed a companion. So Allah created Hawwa (AS) who we also call Eve. She was made to be his partner and friend. Together, they lived in Paradise enjoying everything Allah had given them.

Allah told them they could eat from any tree in Paradise. But there was one tree He told them to stay away from. Just one rule. That was all.

The Mistake in Paradise

Then Shaytan came. He had promised to try to trick humans, and he did not waste any time.

He whispered to Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS). He told them that the tree Allah had forbidden was full of magic and wonder. He made it sound so exciting. He even promised them that eating from it would make them live forever.

It was all a lie. But they forgot. And they ate from the tree.

As soon as they did, they felt ashamed. They knew they had made a mistake. They had disobeyed Allah.

But here is the most important part of the story. Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) did not run away or make excuses. They turned to Allah straight away. With all their hearts, they said:

This is one of the most beautiful moments in the whole story. They made a mistake. They felt sorry. And they asked Allah for forgiveness straight away.

And Allah forgave them. He always forgives those who are truly sorry.

Coming to Earth

A peaceful paradise-like garden symbolizing the early life environment of Prophet Adam (AS), filled with greenery, flowing water, and soft sunlight.

Even though Allah forgave them, there was still a consequence. Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) were sent down to Earth. But this was always part of Allah’s plan remember, Allah had told the angels right at the beginning that He was creating a caretaker for the Earth.

Coming to Earth was not a punishment. It was the beginning of the greatest adventure in human history.

Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) were separated when they first came to Earth. They were apart for a long time. But they never stopped making dua. And Allah, the Most Merciful, answered their prayers. They found each other again on a mountain called Arafat.

They built a life together. They had children. Their children had children. And on and on it went, until billions of people filled the Earth including you and me. Every single human being alive today is a child of Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS). We are all one big family.

What Adam (AS) Taught the World

Prophet Adam (AS) was not just the first human. He was also the first prophet. Allah taught him how to pray, how to ask for forgiveness, and how to live a good life. He passed all of that on to his children.

He taught them that Allah is One. That we should worship only Him. That when we make mistakes, we should not be too proud to say sorry. And that the earth is a gift we should take care of it.
